Jennifer Lawrence’s Golden Globes speech is both sweet and snarky
Known for being a bit of a big mouth these days, Jennifer Lawrence let her freak flag fly yet again as she accepted her very first Golden Globe Award for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook" on Sunday in Beverly Hills.
The 22-year-old actress tempered her humorous comments with thoughts of gratitude for her family.
"What does it say?" she said as she looked at her award for Best Performance By An Actress In A Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical. "I beat Meryl [Streep]!"
Lawrence went on to give a scathing thank you to the head of the distribution company of the film for which she won. "Harvey Weinstein, thank you for killing whoever you had to kill to get me here."
The "Hunger Games" actress then transitioned into a more sincere tone, thanking her brother for "being mean to me" and also being nice and supportive. Lawrence thanked her father for his help in keeping her laughing and smiling as she deciphered her new and growing fame in the entertainment industry, and also thanked her mother for her support.
