It's been eight long years since Will Smith seemingly abandoned his music career full-time for acting. But now, it seems he might be ready to jump right back into his hip hop roots. And you might be surprised at who inspired him to get back in the saddle.

"I’ve been messing around with Kanye, we went in the studio a couple times," Smith told "omg! Insider's" Kevin Frazier in an interview for his new film, "After Earth". "So, I might get the bug. I’m not going to do it unless I’m truly inspired. But, he’s been pushing me a little bit."

This sounds like one bug we hope he catches!

And Smith gave fans a preview on Monday night. During an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman," he didn't miss a beat when he came out rapping to his 1992 DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince hit, "Summertime."
