When you happen to be an actress who brought to life the lead role in the highest-grossing animated film of all time, as well as voiced that film's extraordinarily viral hit anthem, it can be forgiven — a bit! — that the masses might forget about your storied theater career, if only for a minute.
However, fans of Idina Menzel will certainly snap out of Elsa mode (no matter how many repeat plays of "Let It Go" by entranced children they've been hearing at their houses) upon seeing the stage superstar's turn in the new musical If/Then, a production detailing a 40-year-old divorcee's decision to move to New York City for a second start at life.
Menzel's appearance in If/Then marks her return to Broadway after several years keeping busy (to say the least) with other projects, and will mark an addition to a Tony Award-winning resume that already includes starring roles in Rent, Aida, and Wicked.
Menzel's first video from If/Then, "You Learn to Live Without," was shot in the recording studio and highlights Menzel's artistic prowess to full effect. Oh, and it's premiering right here on Yahoo Music.
If/Then opened on Broadway at the end of March, and the soundtrack was released on June 3. Menzel will be performing at the 2014 Tony Awards on Sunday, where she is nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her role in If/Then.
