Dia Frampton Shares Her Voice at Yahoo!

Reality Rocks (New)

Underdog Dia Frampton may not have been able to stop Season 1 frontrunner Javier Colon's season-long run on "The Voice" last year. But the soft-spoken singer-songstress nearly pulled off an upset, as she was separated from Javier by only 2 percent of the public vote, and her original song that she performed on the finale, "Inventing Shadows," went to number one on the iTunes chart, beating out Javier's "Stitch By Stitch." Considering that Dia was never a typical reality TV contestant--she suffered from stagefright, and her musical background was in emo/indie (she was a member of the cult duo Meg & Dia)--this was a victory for her indeed.

And she eventually got a Universal Republic record deal anyway, which lead to the release of her solo debut Red late last year. Featuring contributions from Isabella Summers of Florence + the Machine, Kid Cudi, Mark Pontius of Foster The People, Fitz & The Tantrums collaborator Chris Seefried, and her "Voice" mentor Blake Shelton, Red is a truly credible effort from a girl with a truly unique voice.

Dia and her band--including sister Meg!--recently came by Yahoo! for a lovely performance and interview. And with Season 2 of "The Voice" kicking off this Sunday, February 5, and Dia's tour opening for her old friend Blake Shelton kicking off just a few days later (on February 9), this is the perfect time to reflect on Dia's Season 1 journey and hear some of her original music.
