Another day, another rumor hits social media. The latest gossip? It's all about Reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee, who supposedly came out this week--with both English and Spanish media pointing to a photo of a man resembling the Puerto Rican singer kissing another guy.
Apparently, a supposed "statement" from the artist has been circulating, adding spice to the speculation: "I am a human being like any other, with virtues and defects, and I don't believe that this is a defect."
However, those in the Daddy Yankee camp claim the chatter is a scam. His representative says it's all a big fabrication cooked up by overzealous social media.
"Online blogs and social media are once again to blame for the spread of false news reports, which other media outlets have also shared regarding a public figure," publicist Mayna Nevarez said in a statement reported by the Los Angeles Times. "The reports circulating regarding Daddy Yankee's declaration of homosexuality was falsely written by an online outlet known for fabricating false information and spreading it through social media sites."
The "Gasolina" singer himself remained quiet on the issue, save to tweet a mildly barbed comment in Spanish. Translated, it turned out to be a quote attributed to Albert Einstein: "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." Nice.
