Bruce Springsteen Dedicates ‘Born to Run’ Set to James Gandolfini

Maximum Performance

Bruce Springsteen, whose E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt was a "Sopranos" co-star and pal of late actor James Gandolfini, played the entire Born to Run album in sequence at his Thursday concert in Coventry, England, in honor of his "great friend."

Springsteen dedicated the mid-concert Born to Run set, from "Thunder Road" through "Jungleland," to Gandolfini while playing the 32,000-capacity Ricoh Arena near Birmingham. The show took place on June 20, the day after the iconic 51-year-old actor's shocking death.

The night before the Coventry concert, Van Zandt tweeted: "I have lost a brother and a best friend. The world has lost one of the greatest actors of all time. [My wife] Maureen and I send our deepest sympathy and love to Deborah, Michael, Lily and all of Jimmy's family."
