Bonnaroo Jazz, World Music & Soul 2012
When Bonnaroo makes the claim that they are an "eclectic" music festival, they're not joking around. The most difficult thing festival goers have to deal with is not the heat, or the parking, or trying to stay clean, it's trying to determine which bands you want to see and which you'll have to miss. One person simply cannot see them all.
World music, jazz and soul are three genres that are represented this year, and although not appearing in large numbers, the artists representing these musical styles are cream off the crop, and if you're going you should make an effort to see some of them.
If you're not familiar with some of the bands in this playlist, listen to the songs linked to determine if these may be bands you'd like to add to your Bonnaroo schedule for 2012.
I would urge anyone going to Bonnaroo this year to mix it up, I find that some of my most memorable experiences at festivals are not the "headliners", but the unexpected perfect performances. And while hard to determine which shows will generate most post-festival buzz, I would put good money that one of the acts in this playlist will be included.
