Beyoncé Wows The United Nations With Wild Statement Earrings

When one thinks of the United Nations, enormous gold earrings aren't the first thing to pop in mind--right?

Well, furthermore, you probably don't think of Beyoncé immediately either...however, both the entertainer and her wild statement earrings paid a visit to the U.N.'s General Assembly Hall in New York City Thursday.

The pop superstar, who was there to discuss charitable initiatives for the upcoming 2012 World Humanitarian Day on August 19, had the opportunity to talk with General Secretary Ban Ki Moon. She posted a photo to her official website to document the meeting.

No word on whether Moon had any specific comment on her striking jewelry, but he looks approving nevertheless.

Beyoncé is involved with the U.N. as part of a global campaign to encourage people to get charitably active and, as she quotes, "do one thing for another human being." She's planning to unveil a special video for her song "I Was Here" on August 19, with all proceeds going to the cause. You can learn more about the campaign and pledge your support here.
