"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest" is always an event worth staying in for, and this year's NYE special is sure to be especially celebratory, with performances by Miley Cyrus, Billy Joel, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Robin Thicke, Jennifer Hudson, Enrique Iglesias, Blondie, Fall Out Boy, Florida Georgia Line, and many more. The show will also feature a special "30 Greatest Women in Music" countdown. In the years ahead, you can expect another up-and-coming "New Year's Rockin' Eve" performer, the incredible Ariana Grande, to end up on such an esteemed list.
Yahoo Music recently crashed the "New Year's Rockin' Eve" dress rehearsals and grabbed some time with Ariana, the adorkable girl with the enormous voice who has become one of the biggest breakout stars of 2013. With more than 12 million followers on Twitter, Ariana was already a star on the small screen as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's "Victorious" and the subsequent spinoff "Sam & Cat." But as a singer, she truly flexed her vocal prowess after her jaw-dropping performance of "Tattooed Heart" at the 2013 American Music Awards in November. Poised and confident, the 20-year-old blew every other performer away with just a mic, a sequined gown, and her unstoppable voice. Her New Year's performance is certain to be similiarly thrilling.
As the singer ran about the "NYRE" studios during rehearsals with her equally cute mom in tow, her bubbly personality, funny quips about her wacky stage outfit, love of Mariah and Whitney, and dream of smooching Spider-Man at midnight brought smiles to even the most exhausted crew members. As a backstage observer, rarely do we see so many production people so unanimously impressed by a star.
Ariana's debut album Yours Truly dropped just this past August. She told us, "I'm grateful to be taken seriously as an artist and have people listening to my music and enjoying it. I can't wait to put out my next album; I've already started working on it." With her insane talent, blog-worthy personal style, and goofball charm, we can't wait to see the petite Ariana hit the (even bigger) big time!
