Blur’s Damon Albarn Carried Offstage After Refusing to Stop Five-Hour Set

When you’re having a good time, the last thing you want to do is stop. and Damon Albarn seems to live by that philosophy.

The Blur frontman was playing an epic five-hour set at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark over the weekend and was about to launch into his next song when a security guard came over and had a word.

Albarn can be heard replying: “Why not? F— that.”

He then turns to the crowd and says: “You want more, yeah?”

As the Britpop star started gearing up the crowd for their support to carry on the Africa Express gig — which saw him collaborate with other musicians — another person walked onstage shaking his head.

Albarn then tells the crowd: “You see, he’s someone who’s worked with Africa Express for many years.

”But he’s saying ‘No we can’t do that.’

“F— what anyone says. You want more, we’re gonna give you more.”

Sadly for both Albarn and the crowd, he didn’t give any more, as his mic was switched off and the singer was carried offstage.

Shortly afterwards, a second man came over to attempt to persuade Albarn to leave the stage.

Shortly thereafter, his microphone was switched off and he was lifted up by his stage manager and carried off the stage.

To be fair to security, it was 4 a.m. and they probably wanted to go home.

Still, it’s a brave man to say no to a pop star — imagine them trying that with Liam Gallagher…
