TGT isn't just the stock symbol for Target Corp. It's the name of everyone's favorite R&B supergroup that formed in 2007, but hasn't been able to release a recording until now, due to contractual obligations.
The group features R&B crooners Tank, Ginuwine, and Tyrese and they've just dropped the video for their debut single, "Sex Never Felt Better."
On Thursday, the trio revealed on Hot 97's morning show that their debut album will be released on July 23 by Atlantic Records. Tank said that he was the mastermind who came up with the album's title, 3 Kings, after months of back-and-forth with his fellow band members.
Waiting for the album title was nothing compared to waiting for the actual album. Although TGT announced their formation in 2007, they were prevented from recording because they were all signed to different record labels. In fact, back in 2008, Ginuwine – whose real name is the Laker great-inspired Elgin Baylor Lumpkin – announced on MySpace that any plans for a TGT album would have to be put on ice until they dealt with their legal and label issues.
It wasn't until September 2012, that Tyrese announced via Twitter that the trio had signed to Atlantic. These things take time.
