LL Cool J has just gone where few rappers have.
The "NCIS: Los Angeles" star and host of the Grammy Awards appears on country singer Brad Paisley’s “Accidental Racist.”
The song features Paisley and LL Cool J approaching racism from different perspectives, Paisley from a white man who is proud of his Southern heritage and LL Cool J from a black man who wants to be judged for the content of his character, not his appearance.
Although collaborations between rap and country stars are rare, at least one unlikely cross-genre pairing has enjoyed tremendous success. In 2004, Nelly and Tim McGraw combined for what is to-date the biggest rap-country collaboration of all time with the hit single “Over And Over.” Nelly featured the song, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, on his Suit album.
“Accidental Racist” appears on Paisley’s Wheelhouse album, which is available Tuesday, April 9.
