The exact cause of Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly's untimely passing is still up in the air. An autopsy has been completed, but more investigation is necessary to determine why the 34-year-old died.
According to various sources, the Fulton County Medical Examiner determined Thursday that there was no sign of trauma or foul play in Kelly's case. However, a toxicology report still needs to be completed , which could take at least three weeks.
Reports have been swirling that Kelly died as a result of a drug overdose, and the autopsy results seem to support that theory.
The rapper's mother called 911 on Wednesday, telling police that her son had taken a mixture of heroin and cocaine the previous night and had been brought home to recover from the drug use. She mentioned this was not the first time this had happened.
Kelly reportedly said he didn't feel well that morning, then passed out around 3 p.m. He was pronounced dead an hour and a half later.
Both Kelly's mother and his uncle confirmed that the musician had an "extensive history of drug abuse."
Kelly rocketed to fame as part of Kris Kross at the age of 13, largely due to 1992's chart-topping hit "Jump."
