Kenny Chesney’s upcoming album now officially has a name, and longtime fans of the singer will be able to guess exactly where he got the inspiration. It’ll be called Life On A Rock, and will hit streets April 30.
The name, of course, alludes to Chesney’s fondness for the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he maintains a residence. "Just living here on this planet, we're all living life on a rock; but for me, and for this record, it's about the way life is when you live on an island,” the singer confirms. “Everywhere you go, there's everyone you know; you know everything about them, and they know everything about you...and well, that's just a whole other way to be.”
Chesney’s new set, which marks his 16th studio release, will have 10 songs—8 of which he wrote himself—and it was recorded and mixed in a variety of places, including Los Angeles, Hawaii, Jamaica, Key West, London and Nashville. The lead-off single from the project, “Pirate Flag,” will be released to radio on Friday.
The country superstar announced initial dates for his No Shoes Nation 2013 tour in November. The stadium trek, which starts in March, will cross the country through the end of summer. Check here to see when he’ll be in your neck of the woods.
