By now, everyone knows Blake Shelton as the rakish, handsome coach on NBC's hit The Voice. Music fans also know him as one-half of Nashville's hottest couple, along with wife Miranda Lambert. But it's the true hardcore fans who know that once upon a time, Shelton didn't exactly look like the stylish superstar he is today.
In fact, he looked pretty different. How different? Well, okay--he actually had a mullet!
Yep, it's true. Shelton--who will be co-hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday--sported the infamous hairstyle for several years, starting at the beginning of his career in 2001. Not exactly the Shelton we know today, right?
Shelton also had a distinct fashion sense back in the early '00s. While he's always been a fan of jeans and blazers--he wore Levis for both of his two weddings--he tended to go for a more oversized style. Check out the getup he chose for the 2003 ACM Awards.
By 2007, Shelton had cropped the mullet and began to wear clothes that fit a little better. He's since refined his look to a tee, scoring him tons of female fans as well as several magazine covers touting his "hot" status this year.
Here's what he looks like today, and what he wore as co-host of last year's ACM Awards.
While he's definitely more on-trend these days, we think if anyone could pull off the mullet look, it's a good-looking guy like Shelton. What do you think?
This year's Academy of Country Music Awards, featuring Shelton and Reba McEntire as co-hosts, will be broadcast live on CBS April 1 at 8 p.m. ET. In addition to hosting, Shelton is a contender for the entertainer and male vocalist of the year awards.
