There was no shortage of incredible moments at the 87th annual Academy Awards Sunday night. But the winner for most social media love was of course, the mother monster herself, Lady Gaga.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, her performance not only saw the highest activity of the night between Facebook and Twitter, it also won a lot of praise from some big names in the business, including Bette Midler and Steve Martin.
The newly engaged singer wowed with a Sound of Music medley celebrating the film’s 50th anniversary. Even the incomparable Julie Andrews was pleased with the performance.
However, as we know with social media, there’s always someone who strays from the pack with their opinions. For some reason last night, the naysayer was TV hitmaker Shonda Rhimes.
The creator and writer of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal took to Twitter to share her not so warm thoughts on the performance: “That was not okay. I mean, Idina is there. She is right there. RIGHT THERE. And oh dear God, Julie had to hear that. #Oscars2015."
Rhimes, of course, was referencing Idina Menzel, who had just presented the award for Best Song; as well as Andrews, who famously played Maria in the movie.
Despite feedback like that, it seems that Gaga was only feeling the love; she posted this photo shortly after leaving the stage:
If you want to feel more love, you definitely don’t want to miss Gavin Rossdale and Bush performing live at the House of Blues in Boston tonight, February 23. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. PT; tune in here to watch.
