Several R&B and hip-hop artists have responded to the news that George Zimmerman was found not guilty Saturday in the death of Trayvon Martin.
Diddy, Russell Simmons, Michelle Williams and Monica are among celebrities who offered prayers for the family of the late 17 year old. “MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO TRAYVON’S FAMILY!!! GOD BLESS THEM!!!!” Diddy wrote in a post on his Twitter page.
Rapper Wale compared the ruling to the 2007 sentencing of NFL star Michael Vick. “Lock a man away for dogfighting (which is wrong) for two years. But u can kill a. Child tho,” he wrote in a Twitter post.
Ja Rule, who recently completed a jail sentence for tax evasion and criminal possession of a weapon, said he thought the verdict was unfair. “Wow so a human life don’t mean sh-t in America… they gave me 2 years for just having a gun smh,” he said via Twitter.

Prayers for the Martin family. ... Only God knows what was on Zimmerman mind but the gun laws and stand your ground laws must change. — Russell Simmons (@UncleRUSH) July 14, 2013
George Zimmerman no jail time. Plaxico Burress served 2 years for shooting himself. America!
