Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: Sigma, MARC & Gorgon City

Billboard

Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs and albums rising on Billboard's dance charts. This week: Sigma, MARC and Gorgon City.

Sigma featuring Birdy, "Find Me"

Sigma, the U.K. DJ/producer duo of Cameron Edwards and Joseph Lenzie, swings a No. 32 debut on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Nov. 26) with "Find Me," featuring singer Birdy. Sigma's second chart trip is its first in two years, since "Nobody to Love" reached No. 29 in September 2014. "Find Me," whose video stars 12-year-old actress Millie Bobby Brown, sold 2,000 downloads in the week ending Nov. 10, according to Nielsen Music. That figure also sparks Sigma's first placement on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (No. 33). Additionally, Sigma starts at No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart, its first leader on a U.S. Billboard ranking.

MARC featuring Efraim Leo, "Show You the Light"

Swedish DJ/producer MARC (real name Marcus Liden) starts at No. 49 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with "Show You the Light," featuring fellow Swede, singer Efraim Leo, marking the first career Billboard chart action for both artists. Remixes from Barry Harris, LA Rush and MSC make the track club-ready, although the original's soft, laid-back feel made "The Light" compelling from the start.

Gorgon City featuring Elderbrook, "Smile"

Gorgon City, the UK DJ/production duo of Matt Robson and Kye Gibbon, jumps 46-39 in its second week on Dance Club Songs with "Smile," featuring vocals from Elderbrook. The track, which also starts at No. 29 on the Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart, has been further readied for clubs via remixes from Luca Donzelli & Mar-T and The Magician, among others. Gorgon City hit No. 10 in July on Dance Club Songs with "All Four Walls," featuring Vaults, and topped the chart in January 2015 with "Go All Night," featuring Jennifer Hudson.
