Sander Kleinenberg featuring DYSON, "Feel Like Home"
Dutch DJ/producer/remixer Sander Kleinenberg claims Hot Shot Debut honors on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated April 1) with "Feel Like Home," featuring singer DYSON (No. 46). It's the first chart appearance for both acts. Concurrently, "Home" hikes 14-9 on Dance Club Songs, becoming both the DJ and the singer's first Billboard top 10. Kleinenberg scored his only other Billboard chart action 12-and-a-half years ago, when This Is Everybody Too (which contains cult hit "The Fruit") reached No. 11 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums. "Home" has been remixed by Embody, Timmo Hendriks and Dave Aude, among others.
Shobaleader One, Elektrac
Jazz-leaning electronic act Shobaleader One earns its first Billboard chart placement as Elektrac enters Dance/Electronic Album Sales at No. 13. The band, led by UK-based bassist Squarepusher (aka Tom Jenkinson) with keyboardist Strobe Nazard, guitarist Arg Nution and drummer Company Laser, is on tour in Europe through July. Squarepusher's chart history traces back 13 years, when he tallied his first of two top 10 dance albums, Ultravisitor (No. 9, 2004). He charted a notch higher in 2015, when Damogen Furies started at its No. 8 peak.
German act C418, the moniker for experimental electronic composer Daniel Rosenfeld (of Minecraft fame), earns a No. 21 debut on Dance/Electronic Album Sales with Dief. It's the second C418 title to chart, following Minecraft: Volume Beta (Soundtrack) (No. 14, 2013). The album, created in less than two weeks with the intention of serving as background music for a talk by fellow musician Teddy Dief, is highlighted by office-themed tracks "Work Life Imbalance" and "Blank Cubicle."
