The kick off to Beyoncé’s Formation World Tour in Miami Wednesday night came packed with an emotional punch.

At the very end of the show, Queen Bey thanked her “beautiful husband” Jay Z, and earlier shared a touching story about their daughter Blue Ivy and also paid tribute to Prince.

The singer’s marriage to husband Jay Z has been under tremendous scrutiny ever since she released her infidelity-themed album Lemonade four days prior to the launch of the tour.

Beyoncé sang “Sorry” with the much-discussed “Becky with the good hair” lyric and other tracks from her new album, as well as her hits including “Drunk In Love,” “Single Ladies,” and “Naughty Girl.”

Talking to the audience about daughter Blue Ivy, Beyoncé shared: “We were driving to rehearsal today and she said ‘Mommy, are we going to your work?’ And it reminded me that I dreamed of this day my whole life.” She then thanked her fiercely loyal Beyhive fanbase.

During one costume change, “Purple Rain” by Prince was played to the audience as a big purple screen rotated onstage. Later, before singing her hit song “Halo” she said: “Thank you Prince for your beautiful music.”

The couple are seemingly in a good place despite lyrics in Lemonade like, “This is your final warning … . If you try this s— again, you gon’ lose your wife.”

“They definitely went through a rough patch a couple years ago, but they came out stronger in the end,” a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. Renewing their wedding vows in fall 2014, “I think they almost wanted to prove to everyone that they wouldn’t break up,” adds the source.
