Beyoncé: “LGBTQ Students Need to Know We Support Them”

By Jazz Monroe.

Beyoncé urged fans to help protect trans youth in a statement posted to Facebook yesterday. “LGBTQ students need to know we support them,” she wrote, linking to GLSEN’s 100 Days of Kindness campaign. It follows Trump’s withdrawal on Wednesday of Obama’s guidance that transgender students should be able to use the bathrooms that match their gender identity. Others to have issued statements include Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste, Tegan & Sara, Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace (who also spoke to Rolling Stone), and more.
