BET Premieres Concert Special 'Love & Happiness: an Obama Celebration'

When Dave Chappelle referenced an event he'd attended at the White House in his momentous SNL monologue, he was talking about BET Presents Love & Happiness: An Obama Celebration. The concert special, hosted by Terrence J and Regina Hall, premieres tonight (Nov. 15) on BET at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

During the concert, which features a star-studded lineup boasting the likes of Common, Janelle Monae, The Roots and Usher, President Obama gave a shout-out to guest Chappelle. Thanking BET for taping the musical celebration, the president quipped to the comedian, "You got your block party. I've got my block party" - a reference to Chappelle's 2005 film, Dave Chappelle's Block Party.

Show highlights include Common and Yolanda Adams teaming up on his Academy Award-winning song "Glory," Bell Biv DeVoe spiriting the audience to its feet with the 1990 classic "Poison," Leslie Odom Jr. saluting President Obama with a Hamilton-esque rap and The Roots, De La Soul, Common and Jill Scott joining forces for a special Philadelphia meets New York-meets-Chicago moment. On hand to share thoughts on President Obama's legacy were actors Jesse Williams, Angela Bassett, Samuel L. Jackson and Bradley Cooper.
