Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Regine Chassagne welcomed a baby boy this past weekend. The couple's first child was born on April 21st, and the news broke in an unusual way – Barry Mack, the pastor at Montreal's St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Saint-Lambert, made the announcement to Le Journal de Montréal.
"C'était un mariage à leur image," Mack said. "C'est bien de voir qu'ils sont toujours ensemble et qu'ils ont aujourd'hui un bébé. C'est un peu rare dans l'industrie du divertissement." Spinner gave a rough translation to English: "It's good to see that they are still together and they now have a baby. It's a bit rare in the entertainment industry."
The name of the seven-pound baby boy was not given. Last month, Arcade Fire stopped by DFA Records' New York studio, owned by former LCD Soundsystem mastermind and DFA co-founder James Murphy, to record new tracks. They've been working on a follow-up to their 2010 album The Suburbs, though neither a release date nor title have been announced yet.
