James Murphy is pretty excited about the new Arcade Fire album. The former LCD Soundsystem frontman, who has helped produce the band's fourth album, told NME that the record sounds awesome so far. "It sounds like Arcade Fire in the way that only Arcade Fire sound like Arcade Fire, you know?" Murphy said. "It's really fucking epic. Seriously. I mean, I feel at this point like I'm too close to it to really talk it up and do it justice. You know?"
The album is due out on October 29th, and Murphy says that while his part is done, that doesn't mean the whole album is finished. "For them, it's not finished until it's in stores," he said. "There's a whole complement of people in that band who could have their own bands, or are a successful solo artist. They're all so phenomenally talented and full of ideas so songs keep on coming."
Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Regine Chassagne welcomed their first child in April, but Murphy says the couple never brought the baby to the studio and that Chassagne remained committed to working on the album.
"She worked up until, like, the very final point she possibly could in the studio before giving birth. All of them, they're so committed to making this record," he said.
The rockers from Montreal haven't released many details on their follow-up to 2010's The Suburbs, but Murphy talked up the album earlier this summer, saying that quality of the songs he worked on took any pressure off of him as a producer.
