'American Idol,' The Day After: Dishing About the Semifinals, Pt. 1

This was a controversial semifinals week on American Idol, with five hopefuls, including one former frontrunner, going home – without the public getting to vote – and the poor Season 15 contestants being forced to duet with mismatched alumni and for the most part looking like inexperienced chumps.

But there were still some highlights, like La’Porsha Renae’s fierce duet with Fantasia Barrino, Thomas Stringfellow’s “Creep” cover, and Avalon Young’s two effortlessly amazing performances. And even though the circumstances were unfair to this season’s contestants, it was still nice to see veterans like Fantasia, Ruben Studdard, and Caleb Johnson back on the Idol stage.

So today to break all down for you in a very epic “The Day After” chat are Season 6 alum Brandon Rogers and myself. Let it rip! And then we’ll do this all over again next week, with the other half of the top 24 and a new batch of dueting alumni.
