America’s Got Talent Singer Jackie Evancho Will Perform at Donald Trump’s Inauguration

Jackie Evancho will sing the national anthem at the presidential inauguration of Donald Trump next month, the 16-year-old singer announced on Today Wednesday.

Evancho, who rose to fame in 2010 when she came in second place on America’s Got Talent at the age of ten, said she felt honored that she was asked to sing at the swearing in ceremony.

“I’m so excited. It’s going to be awesome,” she said.

It won’t be the first time the teen has performed in the presence of a commander in chief. In 2010, Evancho sang “O Holy Night” at the National Christmas Tree Lighting hosted by President Barack Obama, and in 2012, she performed for Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast.

Evancho has also met Trump before. Not long after her victory on America’s Got Talent, she met the president-elect at his Mar-a-Lago estate. A photo of the duo was posted on the young singing sensation’s Facebook page.

Evancho joins an elite group of singers who have performed at presidential inaugurations. Beyoncé sang the national anthem at the second inauguration for President Obama in 2013, while Aretha Franklin had the honor during his first ceremony.
