'Maleficent' Banner Shows the Entire Kingdom Under Angelina Jolie's Spell

You’ve seen some glimpses of Angelina Jolie as “Maleficent" — the live-action revamp of the "Sleeping Beauty" tale — but you haven’t gotten the full picture yet.

In this exclusive new banner, you see the pointy-cheeked Oscar winner at the center of a mystical land that ranges from light to dark. To Jolie’s left, there’s Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, the girl cursed to prick her finger on her 16th birthday and fall into a “sleep-like death.” And you see Maleficent’s pet raven, Diaval, who can change into a human form (played by Sam Reilly), not to mention a fire-breathing dragon.

What’s new in this art reveal are the figures to Maleficent’s right. They are the creatures of the Moors, and they populate the wilds of the kingdom. Some look fairly cute and friendly, but others are much more imposing, like the towering tree figure in the background. The environment around them also varies, from the creatures’ rocky but lush surroundings to the thorny brambles of Maleficent’s domain.

"Maleficent" is from Walt Disney Pictures, naturally, and the studio often uses a colorful, wide banner to show off the environs and wildlife in its fantasy realms. And it worked out well for Diseny with the previous hits "Alice in Wonderland" and "Oz the Great and Powerful."

Maleficent" opens nationwide on May 30.
