New York Comic Con to Kick Off with Red Carpet Event, New Venues

This year’s New York Comic Con will roll out the red carpet for attendees. Producer ReedPOP has partnered with CAA Premium Experience — a division of Creative Artists Agency — to launch the convention’s first ever red carpet celebration as its opening event.

The invitation-only “Heroes After Dark” event will be held late night on Wednesday, October 5, and host A-list talent from the big and small screen, in addition to industry professionals and influencers. The celebration will also feature live entertainment and a menu curated by a celebrity chef yet to be announced.

“Over the past 11 years, New York Comic Con has solidified its status as the biggest and most exciting popular culture convention on the East Coast,” said Lance Fensterman, Global Senior Vice President of ReedPOP. “We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone by opening New York Comic Con with the full red carpet treatment.”

Heroes After Dark will be a headline event of the convention’s new NYCC Presents lineup — which aims to expand the convention’s celebrations and activations across Manhattan and Brooklyn, utilizing venues including the Hammerstein Ballroom, Hudson Mercantile, Rock Bar NYC and Littlefield. NYCC Presents will feature events including live podcasts, gaming challenges, screenings, concerts, dance parties and more. Each individually ticketed event will take place between October 3 – 9, leading up to and through New York Comic Con.

The convention is also expanding to the theater at Madison Square Garden for a number of panels in 2016, including Q&As with the cast and executive producers of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” and BBC America’s “Doctor Who,” “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” and “Who” spinoff “Class.”

Entertainment Weekly will be the media partner for Heroes After Dark.
