Yes, That’s David Hasselhoff Rapping on the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ Soundtrack (Audio)

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” films are beloved for their eclectic soundtracks, thanks to a heady mix of classic rock, pop, and old-school R&B.

We don’t usually praise them for their David Hasselhoff rapping — but here we are.

On Wednesday, Marvel released the set list for the “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” soundtrack, which features tunes from the trailers like “Fox on the Run” by Sweet and “Chains” by Fleetwood Mac, but also other classics like “Father and Son” by Cat Stevens and “Mr. Blue Sky” by ELO. Most are recognizable to music fans, or people who grew up in the late 1970s.

But what’s that track on the bottom? “Guardians Inferno?” That’s not a classic tune.

“Guardians Inferno” is a disco-inspired take on the score, co-written by director James Gunn and composer Tyler Bates, according to Rolling Stone. It’s mostly just a cool remix of the score, until you get a rap break from David Hasselhoff, who is supposedly one of Star-lord (Chris Pratt)’s childhood heroes.

If you ever wanted to hear Hasselhoff rap about Marvel heroes, or about his biggest fan Peter Quill, you can listen to the track above.

It’s the kind of song that features lyrics about Rocket and Groot like

Getting down and dirty with a procyon lotor
Got no people skills but he’s good with motors
That weird thing by his side an infantilized sequoia
The two of them walk by, people say “Oh Boy-a”

And a little back story on Peter Quill’s father Ego (played by Kurt Russell).

I didn’t learn parenting
My daddy was a planet

The track’s a good primer for people unclear about some of the character relationships in the film. It’s also probably the only song that uses the scientific name for a raccoon (procyon lotor) and rhymes it with motor. Gunn told Rolling Stone he’s especially proud of that rhyme.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” hits theaters on May 5.
