‘The X-Files’ Ratings Stabilize, ‘Castle’ On Par In Return, ‘The Bachelor’ Inches Up To Season High

After steep Live+same day declines for the first two Monday airings of Fox’s The X-Files (most recently -0.5 in adults 18-49 last week), the event series may have found the bottom, with a 2.5 fast national demo rating last night. That was down a just tenth from its fast national last Monday. Newcomer Lucifer (1.7) was able to cut its Week 2 drop in half, down two tenths from last Monday’s fast national. (Both dramas were adjusted up a tenth in the finals last Monday and both do well in delayed viewing).

After across-the-board declines against the Iowa caucus results drama last Monday, many series rebounded. ABC’s The Bachelor (2.4) ticked up a tenth to a season high. (The reality series also logged a season high in total viewers, 8.5 million). Castle (1.1) returned from winter hiatus even with its fall finale.

CBS’ Supergirl continued to yo-yo in the Live+same day ratings. After dropping -0.3 last week, the superhero drama (1.8) was up by that much last night. Scorpion (2.0) and NCIS: Los Angeles ( 1.6) each were up a tenth from their last originals.

Elsewhere, NBC’s Superstore (1.4) continued to hold steady, while Telenovela (0.9) and The Biggest Loser (1.1) each ticked up a tenth after sliding last week.

The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend matched last week’s Live+same day series high in 18-49 (0.4) while adding a few more viewers for a new high viewership mark, 1.09 million. With Jane The Virgin slipping a tenth to a 0.3 in 18-49 (and 930,000 viewers), this was the first time the freshman comedy has out-rated its sophomore companion.

Fox still won the night in 18-49, edging ABC 2.1 to 2.0, while CBS was back on top in total viewers with 9.4 million.
