'Wonder Woman' International Trailer Features Some New Action Footage of the Amazonian Hero

The DC movie universe (now known as the “DC Extended Universe”) has had a rough 2016. Sure, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad raked in huge amounts of money at the box office, but both received less-than-enthusiastic receptions from critics and fans — and the fact that the former immediately released an expanded “Ultimate Cut” on home video, and the latter is set to debut a similar “Extended Cut” in November, further suggests that DC and Warner Bros. agree that their tentpole theatrical releases could benefit from additional tinkering. In turn, that concern has raised the stakes for the next DC superhero movie, Wonder Woman.

Fortunately, that Patty Jenkins-helmed origin story has so far debuted a wealth of promising promo footage, and that trend continues with the film’s new international trailer (watch it above). Although it’s dubbed in Russian, the clip features the same dialogue scenes found in the domestic trailer. It does, however, include a few new action-oriented shots, all of which imply that Jenkins has a firm handle on her Amazonian character, who (as in Batman v Superman) will be embodied by the striking, charismatic Gal Gadot.

While the few never-before-seen moments in the above trailer likely will do little to stoke the speculative fire (for comparison, watch its original American teaser below), Wonder Woman continues to look like a promising take on the long-running DC character. The film — also starring Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, and David Thewlis — will fight its way into theaters on June 2, 2017.
