‘Wonder Woman’ First Reactions: ‘the Best DCEU Film to Date’

The first reactions to “Wonder Woman” hit the internet on Thursday evening, and if they’re any indication of what’s to come, Warner Bros can breathe a sigh of relief.

Early reviews are the exact opposite of the reaction to the previous installments in WB’s developing DC Extended Universe. Where both “Batman v. Superman” and “Suicide Squad” (Both from 2016) were panned, hard, by advance viewers, “Wonder Woman” is being praised to the stars for its humor and hopefulness.

There’s a lot riding on the success of the film, not least of all because it’s the first superhero film of this size, budget and scope starring, and directed by, women. So it is what many who saw it expressed ouright relief that it’s good (or rather, that it isn’t bad). Overall, the consensus is that it’s far and away the best of the DCEU films.

“#WonderWoman is inspiring, funny, moving, action-packed and very much the movie I was hoping it would be. Can’t wait for you all to see it,” said IGN Entertainment Editor Terri Schwartz.

“[I]t’s the best #dceu movie so far. @GalGadot owns the role & @PattyJenks hit a grand slam,” said journalist Ivan Pereira.

“#WonderWoman is a flawless superhero movie. Loved every second of it,” Business Insider reporter Jason Guerrasio‏ said.

TheWrap’s resident fanboy Umberto Gonzales also loved it, calling it “hands down the best DCEU Film to date!”

Along with the tone and message of the film, “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins, star Gal Gadot, and the rest of the cast are also being lauded. See a sampling of reactions below.

Further press screenings are scheduled for later in May, but the rest of us will have to wait until June 2 to see for ourselves if it lives up to the hype. “Wonder Woman” stars Gadot, along with Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, and Elena Anaya.
