'The Wire' Vet Lawrence Gilliard Jr. Joins 'Walking Dead' Cast

"The Walking Dead" is getting "Wire"-d once again.

Lawrence Gilliard Jr., who played drug-gang lieutenant D'Angelo Barksdale on the HBO drama "The Wire," has been cast as a regular on AMC's zombie hit "The Walking Dead," an individual with knowledge of the casting told TheWrap on Friday.

Gilliard will play Bob (at left), a former Army medic who who descends into alcoholism and joins the Governor's Woodbury settlement.

Gilliard recently had a run on the Lifetime drama "Army Wives."

The "Walking Dead" stint will re-team Gilliard with Chad Coleman, who played Dennis "Cutty" Wise on "The Wire" and signed on for the show's third season.
