Will Ferrell Reveals Why Mariah Carey Was Too Diva For His Movie ‘The House’
Will Ferrell stopped by Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, and he gave Cohen the 411 about how Mariah Carey‘s diva-tude led to her cameo getting the axe in Ferrell’s new movie, The House. When Cohen asked, “Is it true she showed up four hours late to shoot?” the answer from Ferrell was, “True.”
When asked what kind of script notes she had when she arrived, he said, “Well, one script note was like, ‘I don’t wanna do this scene.’ Yeah, even though it was totally approved ahead of time.”
Carey went on to throw one more wrench into the works: she asked to sing a different song than the one that they had agreed on. Ferrell couldn’t remember what song she was supposed to sing, but he said the issue “became quite a kerfuffle — aka, a s*** storm.”
Though Carey burned a few bridges on set, she did not forget her precious fanbase, which she calls her “lambies.” She made sure that there were stuffed lambs in her trailer.
In the end, all the diva demands just became too much, and everyone gave up on the fantasy of a Carey cameo. Ferrell said he got a knock on his trailer door around 11 p.m. and was told, “You can go home.”
