Who Is Your Favorite Superhero Voting For? A Look at Presidents in Comics

Ever wonder who your favorite comic book hero or villain might vote for? The Hollywood Reporter reminded us of the 2008 DC miniseries entitled D-C Universe: Decisions. In it, Lois Lane and Wonder Woman voted Republican, Green Arrow and Batman cast their ballots for Democrats, while the Flash and Superman remained undecided.

But that’s not the first time politics and comics have collided, so let’s take a look back at some of the times real-life presidents were portrayed in comic books over the years.

One week before his inauguration in 2009, President Obama made an appearance in an issue of Amazing Spider-Man, and prior to the 2008 election, he was endorsed by Savage Dragon. He would also appear on the covers of Youngblood and Veronica.

In the 1960s, President Kennedy appeared on several covers, one of which seemed to imply support from Superman. Of course, if Superman ever wanted a change he could just reverse the rotation of the earth, right?

Not every president who appeared on a cover was portrayed in a heroic light, however. Check out Richard Nixon on the covers of The Amazing Spider-Man and Deadpool.

The president who’s seen the most action in the comic book world just may be, honestly, Abraham Lincoln. In one issue, he’s in a fistfight with Deadpool and in another, a shirtless Abe Lincoln is ready for a good old-fashioned rumble and tumble.
