Upcoming Roles for Actors Killed Off in ‘Game of Thrones’

On Sunday, Game of Thrones returns for its sixth season on HBO. The series has a habit of killing off its characters, but that doesn’t mean the end of acting for those who leave Westeros. We thought we’d update you on some of the films our dearly departed are appearing in these days. Oh, and yes, we will be spoiling Game of Thrones, if you’re not all caught up.

Sean Bean: Ned Stark, one of the first notable actors chopped from the cast, has been doing a lot of television work, but he did star in the recently released film The Young Messiah, alongside David Bradley, the murderous Walder Frey himself. It’s about a young Jesus.

Richard Madden: Robb Stark’s tenure as the King in the North abruptly ended, but he’s found some good work since the Red Wedding. He’s co-starring alongside Idris Elba in Bastille Day. He plays an American pickpocket who gets embroiled in an anti-terrorist mission in France.

Rose Leslie: Ygritte, the wildling who stole Jon Snow’s heart, has a couple of upcoming projects, including a sci-fi thriller called Morgan, alongside Kate Mara and Paul Giamatti.

Pedro Pascal: Oberyn Martell, whose departure just had us crushed, will be joining Matthew Vaughn’s hyperviolent Kingsman sequel. Hey, that makes sense.

Jason Momoa: Of all these guys, Khal Drogo has maybe the biggest movie to come. He just had a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as Aquaman. But then he’ll be in Justice League: Part One as Aquaman. And then don’t forget Aquaman, in which he’ll play Aquaman.

Kit Harington: And then there’s Kit Harington. Who says Jon Snow is dead? OK, Kit, sure. I’ll play along with your dastardly game. Harrington will be in Brimstone. It’s a Western thriller that will also star Carice Van Houten, the Red Lady, Melisandre.
