Watch Matthew McConaughey Face the Waves in the New 'Interstellar' Trailer

We’ve seen the thundering alien-world tsunami before in previous clips for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, but it’s never looked quite as terrifying as it does in the final trailer for the November space epic. The latest clip is even more action-oriented than previous ones, giving a straightforward summation of the stakes — namely, that Earth is dying, and only Matthew McConaughey can save humanity — before plunging us into the drink with a propulsive score and impending sense of doom.

Rapid-fire scenes of the environmental disaster on Earth are intercut with our intrepid band of astronauts (led by McConaughey, of course) as they face the deep-space elements. “There’s the mountains,” says Anne Hathaway, one of his fellow space-explorers. “Those aren’t mountains,” says McConaughey, as the camera slowly pans up a towering wall of water. “Those are waves.”  We’ll see how well they surf the break on Imax screens Nov. 5 and everywhere else Nov. 7.
