Watch the New 'Blade Runner' Trailer Ahead of the Film's U.K. Re-Release

With the wheels of the long-discussed sequel now well oiled and Harrison Ford set to reprise his iconic replicant hunting role, U.K. audiences will soon be able to refresh their memories of the first Blade Runner when it is re-released theatrically nationwide April 3.

In anticipation of Blade Runner: The Final Cut’s release by the British Film Institute in cooperation with Warner Bros., a brand-new trailer has been released.

Created by Ignition Creative London, the trailer underlines why, more than 30 years after it first hit cinemas, Blade Runner remains one of the most important neo-noir thrillers ever made, using Vangelis’ eerie, electronic score to soundtrack a selection of the film’s most famous scenes.

The Final Cut is my definitive version of Blade Runner, and I’m thrilled that audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy it in the way I intended — on the big screen,” said Ridley Scott in a statement. “This new trailer captures the essence of the film and I hope will inspire a new generation to see Blade Runner when it is re-released.”

Blade Runner follows the BFI’s re-release of a digitally restored version of 2001: A Space Odyssey complete with stunning new trailer — last year. The film took $550,000, the most yet for a BFI Distribution theatrical release.

In July, the BFI will be re-releasing A Touch of Evil to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Orson Welles.
