Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy opens in theaters August 1st — but before taking off to planets unknown, the movie’s stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista, director and co-writer James Gunn, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stopped by the Yahoo campus Tuesday night to answer fan questions taken from our latest TumblrAsk.
Watch the complete video above or enjoy some of these highlights from the free-wheeling session:
Sentimental Journey: Chris Pratt got all choked up, fighting back tears after being asked about how supportive his Parks and Rec castmates had been of his leap to the big screen.
Make-Up Madness: Zoe Saldana's transformation into the green-hued Gomora was a daily pre-dawn ordeal that sent her into spasms of rage, she recalled. But she remembers drawing strength from the knowledge that others on the crew had it even worse than she.
Cast in 20 Seconds: Director Gunn recalled how he settled on each of the cast members and the moments when he realized each was meant for their part. Chris Pratt, however, joked “I was the best actor available” as Gunn recited the list of comics who couldn’t answer the call.
Helmet Woes: A sci-fi set can be a land of cascading unintended consequences. For Chris Pratt, finding out that the complex mask he wore for his part was incompatible with the film’s wind machine led to a chain reaction of woes.
