Watch a Side-by-Side Comparison Between This Summer's Reboots and the Original Classics

This summer, movies like Jurassic World, Terminator: Genisys, and Mad Max: Fury Road promise to reinvent fan-favorite franchises. But just how far do they stray from the original films? To find out, we compared trailers for this season’s most-anticipated remakes and reboots with the films and TV shows that inspired them. The side-by-side footage (which you can watch above) reveals mirror images of dinosaur feet in Jurassic World and 1993’s Jurassic Park; terrifying clowns in the 1982 and 2015 versions of Poltergeist; and dueling cyborg Arnold Schwarzeneggers in Terminator: Genisys and 1984’s Terminator. Others, like the Peter Pan prequel Pan and the big-screen remake of 1960s TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E., barely resemble their source material. And then there’s the new Fantastic Four movie, which is less a remake of the 2005 film than an attempt to make us all forget the Jessica Alba-Chris Evans version existed at all. Watch the side-by-side clips above, and get ready for a summer movie season where everything old is new again.
