Watch Mark Hamill Go Incognito as a Stormtrooper for Charity

He may be a little short for a Stormtrooper, but Mark Hamill successfully went undercover as one of Vader’s soldiers to raise awareness of an Omaze charity campaign. As part of J.J. Abrams’ “Force for Change” initiative, fans can donate to 15 charitable causes and win a chance to meet the cast at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (opening in theaters on December 18). Of course, a few lucky Hollywood Boulevard pedestrians have already met Luke Skywalker — but as this video shows, they had no idea it was him. Watch it above.

“The last time anybody saw me in a Stormtrooper outfit was when we rescued the princess on the Death Star,” Hamill points out. Nevertheless, the actor has a blast(er) tromping around Hollywood in his full-body armor, chatting with fans in Star Wars costumes, meeting a tourist who declares she’s “in love” with “Mark Hamilton” (close enough?), and asking a bus driver if he’s going to Alderaan.

Along the way, Hamill drops a few hints as to his true identity, like asking a cell phone vender if he sells power converters. (Silly Mark Hamill, you have to go to Toshi station for those!) And in a sly acknowledgement of Luke Skywalker’s mysterious role in The Force Awakens, Hamill spends a moment looking for himself on the movie poster.

Two weeks ago, Hamill’s Force Awakens co-star Harrison Ford promoted the Omaze campaign by surprising Star Wars fans on Skype. Watch the video here.
