Watch Jessica Chastain Threaten David Oyelowo in ‘A Most Violent Year’
Though they both have parts in Christopher Nolan’s space epic Interstellar, Jessica Chastain and David Oyelowo never share the screen in that film’s nearly three-hour running time.
The actors do go head-to-head however, in one of the most intense scenes in director J.C. Chandor’s upcoming crime drama, A Most Violent Year.
Oyelowo plays Lawrence in the film, an ambitious New York City district attorney who is targeting corruption in the heating oil business during the cold, violent winter of 1981. His investigation leads him to the owner of a growing oil empire, Abel Morales, an equally ambitious immigrant played by Oscar Isaac.
Chastain, meanwhile, is Morales’ loyal wife Anna, a Brooklyn native who still has the ferocity of her home borough buried deep within, even as she works hard to fit in to the posh suburb to which they’ve just moved.
Lawrence’s cool and Anna’s fire collide in the scene above, creating a small explosion that will most likely go on Chastain’s Oscar contender highlight reel.
A Most Violent Year hits theaters in limited release on Dec. 31.
