Watch Amy Schumer's Perfect Tilda Swinton Tribute

Add this to your list of amazing facts about Tilda Swinton: She can turn Amy Schumer 100 percent sincere. The caustic comedian, who cast the Oscar winner as her boss in the upcoming comedy Trainwreck, presented Swinton with the Actor Tribute at Monday night’s Gotham Independent Film Awards. Schumer’s speech (which you can watch above) was heartfelt, hilarious, and a perfect summation of why audiences are obsessed with Swinton.

“Just watching her actually makes you feel stronger. She can scare the s--t out of you and break your heart and give you a boner all at the same time,” Schumer said of Swinton, who appears in three of 2014’s best films: Grand Budapest Hotel, Snowpiercer, and Only Lovers Left Alive.

While filming Trainwreck (written by Schumer specifically with Swinton in mind), the comedian had the enviable privilege of spending quality time with Swinton. “Hanging out with her,” said Schumer, “makes me furious at everyone else I’ve ever met that they are not her.” Read the full text of Amy’s speech here.

GQ’s Zach Baronalso also had a chance to visit Swinton’s “mysterious beach water castle in Scotland,” as Schumer called it, while profiling the actress for the magazine's annual Men of the Year Issue.  (Tilda is 2014’s “Woman of the Year.”) In addition to describing how she smells (“wildflowers and wood smoke”) and revealing that she was once a professional gambler, Baron writes that anyone who sends Swinton an email gets the following auto-reply: “Hello, I am away until 01/01/2070 and am unable to read your message.” Because apparently, being the coolest woman in the world doesn’t leave you a lot of time for email.
