Watch a Supercut of Shameless 'Terminator' Knock-Offs

Remember American Cyborg: Steel Warrior? How about Hands of Steel or Alienator? If they don’t ring any bells, that’s ok: These are just a few of the shameless Terminator knock-offs produced by Hollywood in the ‘80s and early ’90s. Check them out in the Yahoo Movies video above!

After the massive success of James Cameron’s 1984 sci-fi film, producers were eager to capitalize on the bionic-killer trend. Some lifted elements of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film wholesale: American Cyborg, for example, features a female hero who must save her unborn child from an android assassin. Others got more creative. Class of 1999 starred Malcolm McDowell as the principal of a dystopian high school, who dispatches Terminator-like robots to discipline his students. Then there was Cyborg, in which Jean Claude Van Damme (playing the awesomely named Gibson Rickenbacker) used martial arts to defend robotkind. Watch the video to see eight of these questionable Terminator homages, and — to borrow a tagline from 1999’s Hardware — get ready for an encounter with some seriously heavy metal.
