“War has begun,” Caesar warns, in the first teaser for War for the Planet of the Apes.

The teaser trailer — a digital billboard in Times Square — was released by 20th Century Fox on Thursday, ahead of the movie’s New York Comic Con event this weekend, when the first footage from the film will debut.

The 46-second video features Caesar seemingly formed out of snow or ash, while his voice (Andy Serkis) warns of impending doom.

“You must go before fighting begins,” Caesar says — a version of his farewell speech to Malcolm (Jason Clarke) at the end of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. “I am sorry. War has begun.”

Caesar and Woody Harrelson‘s Colonel are pitted against each other in the third film, leading to a deadly battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.

War for the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and stars Serkis, Harrelson, Gabriel Chavarria, and Steve Zahn. Chernin Entertainment, Dylan Clark, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver serve as producers for the film.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, a sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes reboot, grossed more than $710 million worldwide in 2014.
