It’s been nine years since the “Pitch Black” sequel, but Vin Diesel brought “Riddick” back in style with the world premiere at Westwood’s New Regency Aug. 28.

In a sharp gray suit and shades, Diesel introduced the third installment of the series as dozens of fans snapped pictures from their camera phones.

“Man, I’m glad I got dressed up,” Diesel said with a smirk.

At the after party at the W Hotel, director David Twohy explained he was happy to “finish unfinished business,” and to explore different elements to the Riddick character.

“The survivor element was something we really wanted to tackle and that’s what we were allowed to do in that first 30 minutes,” Twohy explained.

Diesel definitely has experience reviving characters in Universal franchises — Dominic Terreto returned to “Fast & Furious” in 2009. So who would win in a run-in between Riddick and Dominic?

“There is no contest, that’s all I have to say,” Twohy said.
