The term "real estate porn" emerged years ago to capture a certain lack of restraint shared by both aficionados of high-end properties aspiring to a life of luxury and hedonism and aficionados of, well, porn. But with the release today of the newest marketing video from Los Angeles superdeveloper Nile Niami, who just listed his newest $100 million project, OPUS, the term has been taken to a new, more literal level.
The purpose of the Cleopatra-themed, three-minute video is to lure prospective buyers for the 20,500-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion, designed by architect Paul McClean. But the film, which opens on a lingerie-clad woman servicing herself with the help of an Oculus Rift, is but the latest entry in a new genre of envelope-pushing luxury-home marketing videos. As the "plot" of this project develops, the female protagonist makes her way through the home and all of its amenities as she is attended to by a cadre of nymphs who are naked, other than string bikinis, nipple pasties and copious amounts of gold paint.
OPUS, which is on Hillcrest Road, has seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and two swimming pools - one accentuated by a 20-foot glass waterfall. There is a 10-car gallery that comes with a gold Lamborghini Aventador roadster and a gold Rolls-Royce Dawn. To the right of the main entryway is a champagne vault that can hold 170 bottles of Cristal; on the lower level, there is a wellness center with a plunge bath, a steam/massage room and a full-service beauty salon that abuts a 15-person screening room.
