Ranking the Accuracy of Vampire Movies With the Experts From 'What We Do In the Shadows'

Stephenie Meyer and Robert Pattinson have a lot of vampire blood on their hands.

Thanks to the Twilight films, millions of mortals and immortals alike still erroneously believe that vampires, when exposed to sunlight, do little more than sparkle and brood. Thankfully, Flight of the Conchords star and director Jemaine Clement and his collaborator Taika Waititi have come to set the record straight about the undead. Their new film, the dryly hilarious mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows, looks at the everyday lives of four immortal bloodsuckers living, partying, and squabbling amongst themselves in New Zealand. It will also, hopefully, help keep vampires safe.

"There’s been a lot of unnecessary vampire deaths," Clement and Waititi, who not only co-direct but even complete each other’s sentences, told Yahoo Movies when they visited our New York studio last month. "These poor vampires watching Twilight [get] it in their head that they can run out into the sunlight sparkle like a disco ball. And then they get out there and burst into flames. It’s tragic”

At our behest, the duo also graded several other famous vampire films, including the Brad Pitt-Tom Cruise flick Interview With the Vampire (apparently it has some major accent issues).

"They sound a bit American to be vampires," Clement said. "But I’m not being racist."

But the undead-assistance doesn’t end there! As a bonus, these experts on the minutiae of vampire life also offered some smart financial advice for the immortals who can’t exactly work a normal day job. You can watch the sage words of wisdom below:
