A Real 'Tron: Legacy' Motorcycle Was Just Sold for a Lot of Money

‘Tron: Legacy’ (Disney)

Short of a home-made Millennium Falcon or a restored DeLorean, there’s no cooler movie-geek ride right now than this custom-made motorcycle inspired by the light cycle from 2010′s Tron: Legacy.

A fully functional vehicle based on the cycles driven by Legacy stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, the bike was made for the Andrews Collection — one of the country’s biggest car collections — and auctioned by Sotheby’s over the weekend. It boasts a Suzuki 996cc 4-stroke engine and features electroluminescent strips that give it that special neon blue glow. A lucky (and anonymous) bidder picked it up for $77,000.

There are some real differences between the motorcycle and light cycle, of course. The real bike is presumably not powered by the energy of a video game program, and though it would be nice considering its price tag, it’s doubtful that it is indestructible.

It’s unknown if this is the same bike that made headlines back in 2011, when a light cycle replica was featured on shows like ABC News’ 20/20, as you can see below:

Fans who couldn’t spare the $77,000 will have a chance to at least see the light cycle in action once again: Disney’s announced last month that it had green-lit a third Tron film which will go in to production this fall.
