Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain Recommend Cuddling During 'Crimson Peak'

Crimson Peak is Guillermo del Toro’s new Gothic horror romance film, but stars Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston have another way to describe it: “the cuddle movie.” In a conversation with Yahoo Movies, Crimson Peak stars Chastain, Hiddleston, and Mia Wasikowska break down why their shudder-inducing movie is perfect for a first date. Watch it above.

“It’s romantic and scary, so it’s the perfect date movie,” says Chastain. “Because you go with your love or your wannabe love, and then right when it’s getting romantic, you kind of cuddle, and then when it’s scary, you cuddle more.”

“They could put that on the poster! Crimson Peak: The Cuddle Movie,” jokes Hiddleston.

While filming the lavish Victorian-era movie (in theaters Oct. 16), the stars essentially lived in the film’s creepy mansion — a three-story set that was perfect in every detail. “You didn’t have to substitute anything in your imagination… It was actually breathtaking,” says Hiddleston, who’s used to filling in the blanks on CG-heavy productions like the Thor movies. “The elevator worked! Three stories, up and down. It was crazy,” adds Chastain.

The actors admit that they even considered spending the night on the terrifying set, to get into the Crimson Peak spirit — but only one of them would do it without hesitation. Watch the video to find out whether Tom, Mia, or Jessica is the brave one.
